What is NCD?

NCD NCD (No Claim Discount) is a reward system for safe drivers in Malaysia. For every year you drive without making an insurance claim, your insurer gives you a discount on your next year's premium.

The discount starts at 0% in your first year and grows to a maximum of 55% after 5 or more consecutive claim-free years. This means a driver with 55% NCD could pay less than half of what a new driver pays for the same coverage.

NCD applies to the own damage portion of your premium, not the third-party liability portion. This is why comprehensive policies benefit more from NCD than third-party policies.

NCD Tips & Rules

NCD is Transferable

You can transfer your NCD to a new car when you sell your old one. The NCD follows the policyholder, not the vehicle.

NCD Resets on Claim

If you make a claim, your NCD drops to 0% at the next renewal. You start building it again from scratch.

Only for Private Cars

NCD rates for private cars are different from commercial vehicles. The 55% max applies to private cars.

Grace Period

Most insurers allow a 12-month grace period after your policy expires to retain your NCD if you renew late.
